Human Fall Flat Features and Reviews
Who It Suits

Human Fall Flat

Grab an object, carry it into place, climb a wall: Human Fall Flat asks you to do all of that with a body that keeps folding over.

Working out a solution does not mean your hands will land where you want them. The appeal depends on whether you enjoy those retries, and whether detours with friends sound like part of the fun.

What makes it fun

  1. The grab is only the start

Catching a ledge does not steady your swinging body. Reaching for the next hold and using that swing to climb are part of the challenge.

  2. Helping can turn chaotic

In online multiplayer, the same grab can help pull a friend up or send them off a cliff. Working toward the exit can turn into a bout of grabbing and detours.

  3. Find your own way through

In the dream levels, you can test walls and footholds before using the device in front of you. Finding another route after a climb makes the solution feel like your own.

A typical run

Drop into a dream level and look over the terrain and machinery for a way to the exit.

Push, pull, and grab objects to move them and operate the machinery.

Use the device in front of you, or try making another route out of the terrain and props.

After a fall, restart from a Checkpoint and try a different grip or swing.

Reach the exit to finish the level and move on to the next dream.

Core systems

Physics Platformer

Posture, an object's weight, collisions, and momentum change how things move. Force travels through objects and other players you grab.

What to decide

Settle your body before moving, or swing to reach farther. Moving fast gives you less time to fix a missed grip.

Dream Levels

Each dream brings different terrain and machinery. The exit need not be reached through a fixed corridor.

What to decide

Before operating a device, you can test a wall that looks climbable or a ledge within reach. A shortcut attempt may end in another fall.

Online Multiplayer

Friends can share a dream level and divide up carrying, pulling someone up, and operating separate devices.

What to decide

Split the jobs, or gather around the same object to move it. A grab on another Human can help or get in the way.

Human Fall Flat Workshop

On Steam, you can subscribe to player-made dream levels, lobbies, and skins. Creators can also publish work made with Unity and the official Workshop materials.

What to decide

Replay an official dream or move to a community creation with a different route or theme. Length and finish vary between uploads.

Customisation

Combine head, upper-body, and lower-body outfits and colours to change your Human's appearance.

What to decide

The official description does not list a puzzle effect. You can dress your Human to be recognisable to friends or simply play with the look.

Steam Achievements

Beyond reaching the exit, tasks call for particular tools or routes, or an action within a time limit.

What to decide

Move on after a clear, or change your route to meet an achievement condition. You can return to a completed dream later.

What sets it apart

Once you know the solution, you still have to carry the object into place. If your Human folds over, you have to recover.

Climbing a wall or stacking props along the way can create another route to the exit.

The game does not tidy up contact between co-op players. A grab meant to pull someone up can turn into a free ride or an obstruction.

Learning curve and difficulty

At first, learn where each hand will attach and how reaching changes as you turn the body.

Later, the way you approach a ledge and swing while hanging changes what you can reach.

Wall climbing comes down to linking the next grip with the body's swing.

For shortcuts or fast clears, you may leave the safe route to a Checkpoint and attempt a jump that is easier to miss.

Steam Achievements take you back to dreams whose exits you already know. A required tool or route makes you rethink the clear.

Builds and playstyles

Read the machinery

Work through the levers, weights, and vehicles placed in the level. This suits players who want to figure out an unfamiliar contraption for themselves.

Hunt the shortcut

Use walls and boxes as footholds to skip the machinery's usual steps. Pick the next grip as you climb, then use the body's momentum to reach onward.

Achievement cleanup

Return to cleared dreams for conditions tied to a particular prop or route. Even a space away from the usual exit becomes worth checking.

Carry the group

A practiced climber goes ahead to pull friends up or advance a Checkpoint. Once everyone starts grabbing each other, the detour may become the activity.

What longtime players say

After clearing official dreams, reviewers describe returning for Steam Achievements or moving on to Workshop creations.

After long playtimes, failed attempts and conversations with friends remain vivid memories, sometimes more than the clears.

Long-time players also make a goal of skipping official machinery or clearing a level quickly.

What players like

A missed grab and a wobbling body can be funny. These reviews also value the change that comes with practice: getting a deliberate move to work.

Pulling a friend around or wandering off can end in a fall or a prank. In co-op, reviewers laugh at those failures as part of the session.

Instead of using the obvious device, you can climb a wall or find a hidden route. Reviewers enjoy looking for those shortcuts and turning them into fast clears.

After the official dreams, Workshop escape rooms, horror maps, and amusement-themed creations offer another place to look for levels.

Even after a normal clear, an unfinished Steam Achievement can give you a reason to revisit the same dream.

Free official level updates have brought reviewers back after time away.

Common complaints

Miss a wall or an object with your hands, lose your posture, and start again. Reviewers describe knowing the solution yet spending longer getting the controls to carry it out.

Solo play leaves every failed carry or climb for you to repeat. Without a friend to laugh with, reviewers describe sessions becoming repetitive or irritating.

PC reviews report online connection trouble, crashes, uneven performance, and problems with particular input hardware.

Players prone to motion sickness have reported nausea or headaches.

Who it’s for

It suits players who want to adjust their grip and body swing until a solution they understand actually works.

Co-op groups fit well when they can let a failed rescue turn into grabbing and laughter without rushing anyone onward.

After the official dreams, shortcut hunting, Steam Achievement conditions, and Workshop creations offer goals for players who want to return.

Who might not enjoy it

It may frustrate players who expect a character to stop immediately on input and stay steady on a narrow foothold.

Players prone to motion sickness should take care. For solo players who want to solve contraptions quickly, repeated carries and climbs may be a drag.
