The Forest — build a refuge, then face the woods

The Forest

A player describes building and defending a base with friends while the search for Timmy waits. Making a home can become its own goal.

One player enjoys building and exploring without yet pursuing the ending. Consider it when settling in matters as much as finishing.

What makes it fun

  1. Your base becomes the goal

Even while searching for your son, adding logs to a structure piece by piece can draw you into expanding your base. Deciding how to defend what you have built gives that work a goal of its own.

  2. The stare before the attack

An enemy watches from the trees. You cannot tell whether they will come closer or leave, so even chopping wood becomes a choice between carrying on and getting ready to fight.

  3. Go deeper or head back

Finding supplies and clues in a cave leaves you weighing the dark path ahead against taking what you found home. Fear and curiosity pull you in opposite directions.
